Shop - n- mingle

This weekend my team and I did a great event called Shop - n - Mingle. It took place in Harlem New York at the National Black Theatre. We were asked to sponsor the event by providing makeup makeovers to the attendees. We also provided the hair and makeup for the fashion models. It was a great event. We had a lot of fun. There were a nice mix of vendors and the DJ played a nice array of music.

On another note, there were a lot of women at this event with natural hair styles. It was very nice to see so many women sporting natural styles. The clothing and accessory companies were awesome as well. Lots of unique pieces for sale. This event happens every year so be sure to make it next year. You'll be glad you did.

We have a set back (I'm making a sad face right now)

Ok, so I'm a little sad right now. I was all excited about our new location. I emailed everyone and told everyone about it, only to get the news that we will not be able to work out of there. Unfortunately, there is a conflict of interest with the landlord so we have to find a new location.

Of course I will honor the gift cards that I sent to everyone through email. Be sure to book your appointment before it expires on December 14th.

I know that God must have something bigger and better in store for IMENA so I am not going to stay sad about this. But it still sucks because I really liked that location.

So, I'm going to get back to work now. There's much to do. I have a great event coming up on December 6th and 7th. It's the annual shop and mingle event happening in Harlem. IMENA will be providing makeup makeovers for the attendees and the fashion show models so I am very excited about that. I'll post more information about that event soon.

Again, thank you for all your support. Pray for us as we look for another location. I knew going in that this wasn't going to be a walk in the park. That's what keeps me encouraged. If it was easy everyone would do it right?

Location, location, LOCATION!!!!

I am very happy to report that we now have a location! Starting Saturday November 29th we will be located at 1285 Madison Avenue / 2nd floor between 91st and 92nd streets.

I am really excited about this new chapter in Imena's journey. Our hours will be as follows:

Sundays 9 - 6pm
Mondays 9 - 6pm
Thursdays 4 - 8pm
Saturdays 4 - 8pm

Quick recap of the IMENA Beauty Extravaganza....it was a HUGE SUCCESS!!

Ok, just wanted to give a quick note on the IMENA Beauty Extravaganza. This will not be a long post because it is 3am and I need to go to bed. I will write again most likely tomorrow with more details.

I still have not come to the realization that it is over. Everyone seemed like they had a great time and I was happy with the turn out despite the rainy weather. I would like to say a special thank you to my wonderful staff of hairstylists, hostesses, manicurist and caterer. You guys did a fantastic job. The night would not have been a success without each and everyone of you.

To my guests who braved the rain and the subways to come out to support IMENA, thank you and god bless you! I so very much appreciate you. I was pleasantly surprised to see that most of the people at the event were people who I had never met before so they were trying our services for the very first time. So a special thank you to you guys. Remember, inside your giveaway bags there is a 25% off gift card for your next service with IMENA. It expires in December so be sure to put it to good use. I look forward to seeing all of you at the next event.

Now that the event is behind me all of the things that seemed to try to prevent this event from happening seem so small. I remember there were a couple of times when I just wanted to cancel the whole thing due to frustration or just getting nervous about how it was going to turn out. On those days I would read an inspirational quote I have stuck to my refrigerator. Every time I started to get afraid or nervous about pulling this thing off I would go to the refrigerator and read the quote. This is what it said:

"FEAR HOLDS US AND BINDS US AND KEEPS US FROM GROWING. IT KILLS A SMALL PIECE OF US EACH DAY. IT HOLDS US TO WHAT WE KNOW AND KEEPS US FROM WHAT'S POSSIBLE, AND IT IS OUR WORST ENEMY. I'm not sure who this quote is by but I'm glad they wrote it because it was reading this over and over that got me through the tough times of planning this event. And now that it is complete I am so happy to have done it. The journey for IMENA has just begun. The next step is to find a permanent location. We will be working hard to do that. I will be posting pictures of the IMENA Beauty Extravaganza in a couple of days. In a few weeks we should get the video posted up as well.

Only 4 days left !!

Only 4 days left until the event....I'm so excited! I'm looking forward to meeting all of the new people who are coming.

As you all probably know, fall comes with it's own set of colors and this fall it's all about dark, rich haircolor, funky cuts and smoky eyes.

We will be demonstrating these looks at the event along with fresh faced looks and dramatic lashes and eyes.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG........

Hello everyone,

I just want to encourage you to get your tickets to the Imena Beauty Extravaganza as soon as you can. I know things are tight right now with the economy and everything but we can't give up on treating ourselves well. So take this time to come out, relieve some stress and treat yourself.

GOd is GOOD!

I have had the hardest time getting flyers for this event....beleive it or not. I've been to at least five different printing places and it was a fiasco with each of them. One place actually had me come down to their offices and wait for about an hour before they told me that their graphic designer was out of town. The other places were either too much money, wouldn't order the amount of flyers I needed or were unreliable. Another place actually sent me a proof of the flier that looked like a child made it. I finally just decided to go to vistaprint.com and design it myself, which in the end turned out to be the best thing to do. I got exactly what I wanted and I spent half the amount of money I would have spent with the other designers and print companies, so big shout out to VISTA PRINT.com!!

I have a taste test coming up with my caterer on Sunday to make sure everyone gets great food. This caterer is AMAZING and her food is de-li-cious! I'll let you guys know how it goes. Talk to you later.

WE HAVE FOUND A LOCATION !!!!!

I am very happy to report that we have found a location for the event! I want to thank the HAIR BY KASIA salon for allowing us to use their space for our event. I will be updating the event flier with the address very soon. I am so grateful.. I can't tell you guys how close I was to having to push this event back due to not having a space. But God has answered my prayers.

I also want to say thank you to LADY C. for hosting a great business MEETUP meeting tonight. And to all the business owners I met at the meetup, I look forward to working with all of you very soon.

Today I also obtained the domain name for the company. www.IMENAINC.com don't try to go to the site yet because there's nothing there. I'll let you guys know when we launch the site.
